Common questions

The lock didn’t reach my kid’s phone.
Locks travel as push notifications and apply even if the app was force-quit. If the phone is offline or powered off, the command waits and applies the moment it reconnects. If the parent app shows “working…” for more than a minute, open the child app once — it fetches and applies instantly.
I forgot the parent PIN on the child’s phone.
On your phone, open the child’s page and choose Reset PIN. The child’s phone clears its PIN and asks you to set a new one, in person.
I need the phone unlocked right now and my own phone isn’t working.
On the child’s phone, open Analog Mode Kids → Parent Settings and use Emergency unlock this phone. It needs your parent PIN, works offline, and clears the shield on the spot.
How do I remove Analog Mode from a child’s phone?
Unlock the phone first, then note one gotcha: during setup, the checklist had you block app deletion in Screen Time, and that block outlives the app. The child app’s Parent Settings include a step-by-step “Remove Analog Mode from this phone” guide, but the short version:
  1. Unlock the phone from your parent phone (or use Emergency unlock).
  2. On the child’s phone: Settings → Screen Time → Content & Privacy Restrictions → iTunes & App Store Purchases → Deleting Apps → Allow.
  3. Optionally revert the other restrictions the setup checklist added, and remove the Screen Time passcode.
  4. Delete the app like any other.
Does my kid know when I lock the phone?
Yes — a banner appears and the shielded apps show Apple’s standard restriction screen. Analog Mode is a seatbelt, not a secret.
Which phones does it work on?
Both parent and child need an iPhone. The child’s phone needs iOS with Screen Time (Family Controls) available — any iPhone from the last several years qualifies. Android isn’t supported yet — if you’d like it to be, tell us with one click and we’ll let you know the moment it’s ready.
